“We cannot change, we cannot move away from what we are, until we thoroughly accept what we are. The curious paradox is that when I accept myself as I am, then I change… ”

What is Active Listening?
Active Listening is an unconditionally accepting space where one person, the speaker,
shares what is alive for them in the moment while another person, the listener, empathetically listens.
It's simple. It's organic. It's real.

Why Is Active Listening Effective?
Over the past 75 years, research in the realms of psychology have demonstrated that therapists, psychologists, counselors, and teachers who empathetically listen, are significantly more likely to reach positive change with clients, patients, and students.
We now know that the process of empathetically listening to another individual, without a preconceived agenda and without giving advice, is statistically proven to be one of the most effective strategies for healing, change, and inner growth.
Active Listening sessions are not designed to treat symptoms, stressors, or pathologies, however they are designed to create a safe space where healing, empowerment, and breakthroughs can (and do) regularly happen.

"The research evidence keeps piling up, and it points strongly to the conclusion that a high degree of empathy in a relationship is possibly the most potent and certainly one of the most potent factors in bringing about change and learning."

How Does It Work?
The speaker (you) will share for 30, 60, or 90 minutes, while the listener (Axios) will listen and actively engage with you. You can share any type of content or topic, as long as it feels real and alive for you in the moment.
It's a simple and organic process, which unfolds in a way that is unique to the individual sharing (the speaker).
All sessions occur online via video chat or phone. If you live in the Austin TX area, in person sessions can be requested.

Who is Listening?
Hi! I am Axios and I'm here because I highly value the power of being heard. As a listener, you can expect to experience someone who is super friendly, extremely caring, and genuinely curious about who you are and what you're currently experiencing. I'll ask the right questions that'll make it easy for you to share, in a way that feels safe, comfortable, and consensual. I'm passionate about Active Listening because it is an opportunity to vicariously take a walk in someone else's shoes. With that being said, I am excited to take that vicarious walk with you! |
Testimonials
My Active Listening session with Axios was quite powerful. I not only felt supported, but also that I was being heard on a deep level. In the process of working with Axios I was able to gain much needed clarity on issues that mattered to me. I highly recommend working with him!" ~ Andy
"Sometimes I just need to talk things out to really get to the root of what I'm feeling and what I need to move forward in my life. Active Listening sessions have been instrumental in helping me to become more aware of the things happening on a deeper level so that I can identify my needs and make conscious choices to get those needs met."
